COMMEMORATING NATIONAL ACTION MESOTHELIOMA DAY FOR PEOPLE WITH ASBESTOS CANCER
Service of reflection and hope to be held at Leicester Cathedral at 2 pm on
1 July 2016
Mesothelioma UK, the Charitable Trust supporting people with asbestos cancer, is commemorating this year’s national Action Mesothelioma Day with a service of reflection and hope at Leicester Cathedral at 2pm on 1 July 2016. Click here to download the Order of Service.
Action Mesothelioma Day is an annual day to raise awareness and pay tribute to all those people suffering with the mesothelioma cancer. The UK has the world’s highest incidence with more than 2,500 people diagnosed with mesothelioma each year and this number is increasing. The rising number of patients is directly linked to the UK’s continued import and use of asbestos into the late 1990s.
The Leicester Action Mesothelioma Day service will be followed by a symbolic dove release. Paper doves will be available on the day for messages to hang on to the tree of remembrance. Families, patients and carers can also add the names of their loved ones to the scroll of remembrance that will be on display during the reflection service. To add names to the scroll and to register your interest in attending, contact Mesothelioma UK on 0116 258 3290 or email email@example.com
Liz Darlison, Mesothelioma UK Director of Services and Consultant Nurse, said: “We invite local families, patients and carers to join us on Action Mesothelioma Day to pay tribute to those people affected by mesothelioma and also to help raise awareness about the genuine sinister consequences that asbestos can have.”
