Mesothelioma UK (MUK) is dedicated to providing specialist mesothelioma information, support and improved care and treatment across the UK. We rely totally on donations to provide our services.
We provide funding to support Mesothelioma Specialist Nurses post across the UK and currently support 12 specialist nursing posts across the UK.
Due to the generosity of the Pat Stone Meso Support registered charity, funding has been made available for London based Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialist. The funds will be managed by Mesothelioma UK, and the service level agreement will be between Mesothelioma UK and the successful trust.
The funding supports 2 days (0.4 WTE) a week to provide specialist support for mesothelioma patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
As well as providing support locally, the appointed nurses also support the national Mesothelioma UK helpline as part of a rota.
The agreement will initially be for a 3 year period, after which Mesothelioma UK will continue to support the post as long as the post holder is able to meet objectives set by Mesothelioma UK.
So if your trust:
• Has a specialist interest in Mesothelioma
• You currently employ enthusiastic and motivated lung cancer specialist nurses who deal with patients suffering from mesothelioma
• You wish to enhance the role of your specialist nurses
• You have clinical MDT lead and management support for the post.
Mesothelioma UK are inviting London based trusts to submit expressions of interest for funding, to support a Mesothelioma specialist post within your area.
The post holders are supported by our Director of Services/Nurse Consultant, team of specialist mesothelioma nurses and the MUK operational team.
The post holder must be committed to delivery of the service as set out in the service level agreement and fully supported by their management team.
All expressions of interest must be supported by:
• The Trust Senior Management (e.g. Chief Executive or Director of Nursing)
• Lead Cancer Nurse / Head of Nursing
• Lead Cancer Clinician
